Truth and Training (T&T)
Designed for 3rd through 6th grade, T&T provides a new challenge for these older clubbers.
Every clubber starts the year with the introductory “Start Zone” booklet. Once they have memorized the verses there and have attended a second club night, they will start into their handbook. All grades 3rd-6th work through the same handbook. This year, it is Agents of Grace.
We have a large group lesson that focuses on the theme for the week and then break up into small groups to “dive deeper” into the weekly lesson. This time involves group discussions, review of the memory verse, time for prayer and time to allow the clubbers to get their book work signed off to earn their award patches. Unlike Sparks where everyone goes at their own pace, we focus as a group on one section at a time. We encourage them to complete the Explore section at home prior to class if possible as this allows for a better discussion rather than simply walking through those questions in class.
Clubbers earn points/Awana Dollars for each section they complete, for attendance, for bringing their Bible and handbook to club and for participating throughout the night. These points determine the order they will shop at our end of the year store.
T&T patches are earned by completing sections in the handbook. This means they have completed the Explore Section questions, said the memory verse for the week and the review verse from the prior week. Every 4 completed sections earns a patch (these are different for each age group)
Silver and Gold sections are “extra credit”. The Silver sections are generally reading additional scripture and answering questions - a great way for kids who may not memorize easily to be involved. Gold sections involve memorizing extra verses. Clubbers receive at Silver or Gold patch for their shirt by finishing the 8 silver or 8 gold sections for a unit.
Clubbers may certainly “work ahead” if desired, but we do want to encourage them to participate in the discussions and activities for the week. To that end, we have added a new challenge this year we are calling the “Triple Crown”. If they complete the whole section - Explore, Memory, Silver, and Gold - for the night, they will be able to pick something out of our prize box at the end of the night.

Earned every 4 sections
3rd & 4th grade receive Chevron Badges
5th & 6th grade receive Picture Badges
Clubber must complete “Start Here”; “Explore questions” and the Memory verse including the new and review verse.
Review Section: Clubber must complete questions and say all review verses - they do not have to say all verses at once, but must say them all in the same night (leaders may waive the same night rule in 3rd & 4th grade if they feel it is appropriate for the particular clubber)
Sections do not have to be completed in order to receive a badge
(ie may complete 2.1, 2.2, miss a week, do 2.4 and 2.5) This allows them to complete the week we are discussing, keep going and still get badges. Also allows those who have difficulty memorizing to complete the sections with shorter verses and still get some reward.
Clubbers may work ahead to finish the full book by end of year, but only after interacting with rest of the class for the lesson time
Silver and Gold Extra Credit
Clubber must finish all Silver and/or Gold in a section to receive these badges
Encourage clubbers who have difficulty memorizing to do the Silver as there is no memory work involved.
Encourage clubbers who are “high achievers” to work on the Gold to keep them challenged.
